To Us a Child is Born

Fourth Sunday in Advent - December 19, 2021

Light has become synonymous with Christmas. Lights on houses. Lights on Christmas trees. Lights in luminaries that brighten walkways. Yet, all these lights are little more than sentimental decoration if we do not recognize the greater light that shined at Christmas. Isaiah reminds us, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” (Isaiah 9:2). God shines light in darkness. Today, we rejoice in Jesus, the light of the world, who gives deeper meaning to all other Christmas lights.
