See bulletin Less than a hundred years ago when you got sick or felt unhealthy, doctors would simply drain you of your ‘bad’ blood, just enough, so that you wouldn’t die. Actually, today we often do pretty much the same thing with blood transfusions and dialysis. The difference is we’ve figured out on a more bio-chemical level that we need to REPLACE all those ‘bad’ blood cells with ‘good’ ones, or at least clean up the bad blood. But how do we fight the 'bad blood' in us that the Word of God calls 'sin'? When the Holy Bible reveals to us all of the cancerous sin that infects our body, mind, and soul, IF we were to just start trying to cut and hack it all out of our life, that would not last very long. Think of an alcohol, drug, or pornography addict who finally confronts their sin and addiction. Those things are often simply masking a deeper guilt, unhappiness, or sin. He or she doesn't usually do very well if he or she simply attempts to cut the addiction out of their life. If they do not REPLACE it with something God-pleasing, the temptation will always be there to just refill and return to what was cut out. "Love," according to 1 Corinthians 13:6, "does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth." Godly 'love' obviously does not rejoice in sinful behavior, wickedness, or unrighteousness. Rather, Paul says in verse 6 that true love rejoices in “the truth.” I don’t ever want to be like a Pontius Pilate asking Jesus the dumb question, “What is truth?” Truth is sitting right in front of our eyes. The truth about love has been discussed, written about, and printed more than anything else in the entire world. God's truth, prompts me to celebrate at a Christian funeral. God's truth, not the TV, is what teaches me really what is right from wrong. Truth is God’s Holy Word which exposes my sin and gives me wisdom and knowledge of what I truly need… a Savior. That forgiving Savior, Jesus Christ, reminds me that HE has no replacement. That He alone is the only “Way, truth, and the life!” Pray the Love of Christ would move you to rejoice in replacing the sin of your life, with the Word of God's Truth about Love. Look to Christ for the proper definition of Love. Seek Christ's forgiveness and peace to REPLACE your "bad blood" of sin. Grow in Christ, as He gives you His blood transfusions through His Word for His love and strength each new day!
